About.

Born in Reston, Virginia, Brittany Marroquin began designing and building wooden furniture in 2013.  She received her BFA in Craft and Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and continues to work and build in her practice in a small studio in Richmond, VA. She has traveled abroad, where she exhibited in “VCU in Peru” at Casa Campesina located in Cusco, Peru, and which included multimedia works produced while studying abroad. She also exhibited in Richmond with works inspired from the experience in Peru. Marroquin is currently creating wooden furniture that ranges from spoons and small boxes to side tables and shelves. She has utilized the wood bending process and live edge slabs to transform functional furniture and well-designed home objects. With a fascination of the possibilities and relationships of materials, she hopes to continue exploring this wonderful material; wood.
